Ali Walker Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Ali Walker, a photographer who takes pictures of people. Little people, big people, young people, old people, and people in love. But mostly I photograph weddings. Why weddings? Because I adore them. Each wedding is a unique and amazing feat of design and, most importantly, a celebration that marks a new era in the life of two people. I am always so honored to be a part of what is really a very intimate day for my clients. My photography approach is both artistic and photojournalistic so that I can create a beautiful, honest story through my camera's viewfinder.

Originally from Bellevue, WA, I now call Walla Walla my home. I have two wee ones who are both funny and clever and a fat black cat with an unfortunate name. When I'm not busy behind my camera, I can be found reading Dwell magazine, listening to Regina Spektor, and dreaming of travel.

Ali Walker Photography is located in downtown Walla Walla just one block off Main Street and is available for wedding and portrait commissions nationwide. If you're planning a wedding or a lifestyle photography session and like what you see, please contact me so we can schedule a meeting and talk about your photography needs.

The Secret Life of a Wedding Photographer.

I ran across this great blog post by Stacy Reeves, a Dallas-based wedding photographer and I thought it was worth posting. Many people have the misguided notion that they’re paying thousands of dollars for eight hours of photography (wow, what a living!) or that a photographer’s job isĀ  downright glamorous. I think her blog post does a great job of dispelling these myths. Oh, how I wish I spent 80% of my work hours behind the camera, but that just isn’t the case.

Kim Fetrow - Ali - that was sooooo true. Wouldn't it be nice if it was that easy?

Meg Borders - I agree, so many people are misguided. I loved the article and it rings true to portrait photogs as well. Love this post!

Will Walker - I wish people realized that. I spend sooooo much time in my editing cave that I don't get a chance to enjoy the sunlight unless I'm shooting a wedding.

Doreen Kline - I agree with everything in the article. Most people think I have a magic button that I push and albums, slideshows, prints, DVD's and canvases magically appear.
