Ali Walker Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Ali Walker, a photographer who takes pictures of people. Little people, big people, young people, old people, and people in love. But mostly I photograph weddings. Why weddings? Because I adore them. Each wedding is a unique and amazing feat of design and, most importantly, a celebration that marks a new era in the life of two people. I am always so honored to be a part of what is really a very intimate day for my clients. My photography approach is both artistic and photojournalistic so that I can create a beautiful, honest story through my camera's viewfinder.

Originally from Bellevue, WA, I now call Walla Walla my home. I have two wee ones who are both funny and clever and a fat black cat with an unfortunate name. When I'm not busy behind my camera, I can be found reading Dwell magazine, listening to Regina Spektor, and dreaming of travel.

Ali Walker Photography is located in downtown Walla Walla just one block off Main Street and is available for wedding and portrait commissions nationwide. If you're planning a wedding or a lifestyle photography session and like what you see, please contact me so we can schedule a meeting and talk about your photography needs.

Sneak Peak.

Just an image that stood out to me as I was going through Saturday’s wedding at Cameo Heights Mansion.

We’re at the tail end of August and I’ve got two more months of super busy wedding goodness left this season. I’m having so much fun this year and I have say that I am blessed with the most amazing clients…clients who trust in my artistic vision for their wedding images and who are wonderful to work with. Amazing. Because my business consists almost exclusively of wedding clients, I shoot on the weekends and spend my work week culling, editing, marketing, answering e-mails, designing albums, and so forth. Whenever I go through my client images, I find myself thinking about how much I adore each couple. I’ve been meaning to post this little shout-out thanking all of my brides and grooms being for being awesome people.

And on a studio note, I am pleased to announce that I was recently accepted into the Wedding Photojournalist Association.

Okay, more blogging to come this week…I’ve got two weddings from this month in the wings.

Back!

I am home now from my whirlwind Seattle -> Pt Townsend -> Bellingham circuit. I had an incredible time while I was away. I had my cameras with me primarily for the wedding on Saturday, but I made sure to bust them out the rest of the time I was away so I could capture some images just for me. I don’t do that nearly enough! Some highlights include a visit to Churchmouse Yarns, smelling the Puget Sound (a smell I miss dearly since moving away from the Seattle area nine years), rocking Ballard with my good friend Stacey, lots of super yummy food, and seeing Julie and Julia. Oh, and working with Michele M. Waite was an absolute treat. She’s the nicest person ever and I truly appreciate her hospitality.

Now I’m back and catching up! These past two weekends were my two of the three weekends I have off this summer. Lots of weddings coming up–I can’t wait!

Nichola & Paul (Part II)

Nichola and Paul were married at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Nichola and Paul are incredibly gracious, accomplished, and talented. Best wishes to these two as they head off to New York to start their new post-PhD careers in academia! I wish you both the best.

And on to the images…

Off, off and away!

Someone is a bit sad about Mama going away for the weekend…

sadface

But Mama isn’t! I’m leaving for a whirlwind weekend to Seattle. Tonight I get to hang with one of my best girlfriends from college. Friday I get to spend with moi (everyone needs some alone time, especially in the big city, don’t they?). And Saturday I’m going to be second shooting in Bellingham with Michele M. Waite, a photographer whose work I’ve admired for quite some time. Then on Sunday the amazing Kristen Honeycutt is going to do a little minishoot for me because my bio picture is sorely in need of an update. I’m stoked for it all!

I’ll be back soon. Have a great weekend!

Nichola & Paul (Part I)

Nichola and Paul’s engagement session was just four days before their wedding. These two are so sweet and I can’t say enough good things about them. Here’s some of my favorite images from their engagement session. Wedding images will be posted very, very soon, so stay tuned!

Steve & Taryn

Steve and Taryn drove to Walla Walla for our shoot. We had so much fun relaxing over wine before the session at Brasserie Four–I think it really helped loosen everyone up. These two were so good in front of the camera–really a pleasure to photograph! I’m looking forward to their October wedding.
