Ali Walker Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Ali Walker, a photographer who takes pictures of people. Little people, big people, young people, old people, and people in love. But mostly I photograph weddings. Why weddings? Because I adore them. Each wedding is a unique and amazing feat of design and, most importantly, a celebration that marks a new era in the life of two people. I am always so honored to be a part of what is really a very intimate day for my clients. My photography approach is both artistic and photojournalistic so that I can create a beautiful, honest story through my camera's viewfinder.

Originally from Bellevue, WA, I now call Walla Walla my home. I have two wee ones who are both funny and clever and a fat black cat with an unfortunate name. When I'm not busy behind my camera, I can be found reading Dwell magazine, listening to Regina Spektor, and dreaming of travel.

Ali Walker Photography is located in downtown Walla Walla just one block off Main Street and is available for wedding and portrait commissions nationwide. If you're planning a wedding or a lifestyle photography session and like what you see, please contact me so we can schedule a meeting and talk about your photography needs.

On the mend.

Claire has been really sick.  It all started two weeks ago when she was running a fever every other day or so. From Easter Sunday on, she’s been running fevers daily…fevers that haven’t been high-grade, but that have been difficult to control with fever reducing medicines. She was diagnosed Monday with an ear infection and put on antibiotics. She didn’t improve so on Thursday I took her back and she was diagnosed with a sinus infection. A different antibiotic was prescribed. Yesterday she was so ill…lethargic, fevered, not eating, and drinking very little all coupled with severe diarrhea from the antibiotics she’s been taking. Dave and I decided it was best to take her to the ER where they pumped her full of fluids, antibiotics, and steroids. A chest x-ray revealed viral pneumonia on top of the sinus/ear infections that have persisted.

Today she seems better. Her fever has stayed down. She still needs to get to a specialist for some ongoing ear-nose-throat issues, but at least she’s not fevered and is more like herself. And thank goodness for Netflix on demand (I think that’s what it’s called). We’ve been able to stream Angelina Ballerina shows which have kept her very entertained from her “sick bed” on the sofa.

Yesterday was also my birthday. Dave and I had planned a weekend getaway to Coeur D’Alene for some rest and relaxation, but obviously ended up canceling. After five hours in the ER, Claire was feeling much better so I called in a take-out order for Sushi to take home and share with Dave. A plateful of sushi, a glass of Pinot Noir, and a kid who for the first time in a week was smiling felt like a divine celebration. This birthday definitely goes down in the books as a harrowing one; I’m just so glad that she seems to be on the mend.

Engaged: Andrea and Marc

Andrea and Marc are getting married next month in Walla Walla. We met up recently downtown for their e-session. Alice, their labrador, was in a few shots. I love dogs. I think I’ve mentioned that before. I really wanted to take Alice home with me.

Easter Sunday

We just got done with our casual morning here at home and are getting ready to dress up and head over to our family’s house to celebrate. Here are a few snaps I caught this morning. Happy Easter!

Thank goodness spring is here!

The Hawthorne tree in our yard is starting to bloom and I’m trying to capture the blossoms that are so fleeting. I hope everyone is enjoying this incredible weather!

A rare maternity session

Kristen Honeycutt, a super-talented Seattle-based photographer, contacted me a few weeks ago about doing a maternity session, but one that was more like an engagement session (you know, no belly swathed in yards of fabric). I was totally game! We met up in her hometown of Moses Lake to capture some shots of all the love they’ve got going on. Here are some faves.
