Ali Walker Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Ali Walker, a photographer who takes pictures of people. Little people, big people, young people, old people, and people in love. But mostly I photograph weddings. Why weddings? Because I adore them. Each wedding is a unique and amazing feat of design and, most importantly, a celebration that marks a new era in the life of two people. I am always so honored to be a part of what is really a very intimate day for my clients. My photography approach is both artistic and photojournalistic so that I can create a beautiful, honest story through my camera's viewfinder.

Originally from Bellevue, WA, I now call Walla Walla my home. I have two wee ones who are both funny and clever and a fat black cat with an unfortunate name. When I'm not busy behind my camera, I can be found reading Dwell magazine, listening to Regina Spektor, and dreaming of travel.

Ali Walker Photography is located in downtown Walla Walla just one block off Main Street and is available for wedding and portrait commissions nationwide. If you're planning a wedding or a lifestyle photography session and like what you see, please contact me so we can schedule a meeting and talk about your photography needs.

Quick.

Just a quick post to say how elated I am about the sunny weather! Here’s a picture of Lucy taking a nap. I love the sun streaming in and hitting the wall behind her.

I’ve got two recent weddings to post this weekend…I LOVE winter weddings. Check back soon!

Goals

I know it’s a bit late to mention New Year’s resolutions, but I thought I’d take a quick moment to post some of mine. Most of them are of the nurturing variety…I’m not into self-denial, punishment, or extreme discipline. So, in no particular order, here goes:

1) Get a piano and start playing again
2) Put up more original art
3) Print more photos and display them
4) Make two, just two, pillows for my living room using 100% recycled items (I just discovered that one of my favorite J.Crew cashmere sweaters has a hole in it, so I’m going to salvage it and use the cashmere to cover a pillow)…I really like the pillow in the third photo down here
5) Work out regularly (which leads to my next goal…)
6) Run some sort of race…a 5K would be fine (I ran a marathon in 2000 and have run very little since then–I would like to get back into running!)
7) Be better about playing with my kids…getting outside, collecting nature, cooking together, and being messy, creative, nature-lovin’ people

They’re not especially lofty, but they’re what’s on my mind for 2009.

Fine Art Guest Book Albums

Just a few shots of  a recent studio album. It’s a 10×10 fine art album designed with plenty of white space for guests to sign at the wedding. I love these albums–for this one, I chose a matte finish on the pages which makes for quick drying when signed. The spreads lay completely flat and the pearlized photo cover is gorgeous! These are also available as wedding albums.

Amy, Ryan, and Claira, part 1

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Amy, Ryan, and their adorable daughter Claira. This ended up being a family and engagement session, so I thought I’d post the family portion first. Claira is SO adorable…I just want to eat her up!

Amy and Ryan will be getting married in March and I’m really looking forward to documenting their gorgeous day. Engagement shots coming soon! Happy Sunday!

My own.

I don’t post a lot about my family, but I do often get asked about them when I’m shooting so I figured it was time to post some recent photos.  Nels is my six year old. Claire is my tiny three year old. They’re delightful (most of the time).
