Engaged: Marisol and Ray

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Marisol and Ray booked my for their July wedding last year and I’ve been looking forward to their engagement session since they booked. They are such a sweet couple and such sports about all the running around we did for their engagement session. I think you can really see how in love they are in these images.

(These next two images were taken during a lively discussion about whether or not a minivan is in their future. Marisol insists no. Anyone want to place a bet one way or another?)

Engaged: Marisa and Dan

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Marisa and Dan met with me at Columbia Park to photograph their engagement photos at their favorite recreational spot–the frisbee golf course! (I’m so glad we cleared up that we were meeting at the frisbee golf course over the phone, or I would have been waiting for them at the park’s driving range.) Dan was nice enough to clue this frisbee golf neophyte into the ins and outs of the game and the course. These two were the most playful couple–complete hams and absolutely adorable. Their wedding is coming up just this next weekend and I’m really looking forward to capturing their gorgeous day!

Anyone in need of a fairy godmother?

Engaged: Morgan and Tyler

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

This past weekend I drove over the mountains to photograph Morgan and Tyler’s engagement portraits. The weather was touch and go, but we ended up with two hours of great weather (lots of Seattle sun breaks) and I scored a tour of the University of Washington campus! (Thanks, guys!)

Morgan and Tyler were wonderful to work with and I am looking forward to photographing their wedding in August!

Tulips

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

On Saturday morning we ventured up to Woodland, WA to see tulips. I haven’t done a tulip festival since I was a teenager and living in the Seattle area (we made a trip every spring north to the Skagit valley to see rows and rows of tulips…good memories!). The colors were just beautiful and seeing as I’m especially fond of tulips, I’d figure I’d post a few pictures from our outing.

Saturday evening, we attended a barrel tasting at Bethany Vineyards in Ridgefield, Washington. My sister and brother-in-law are good friends with Walt and Beth and were helping with the coordination of the event. The food was fantastic, as was the wine. I brought along my camera and snapped a few images that evening.

My brother-in-law, Jeff, who coordinated the tasting. Check out his web site!

Here my sister, Stacey, Walt, and Bethany pour tastings.

A little environmental shot.

Towards the end of the night…Stacey was pouring and chatting with our friend, Martie.

I’m back home now, but will be heading out again this weekend for a trip to Seattle. Have a great week!

Update from Portland

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

We’re hanging in Portland with my sister and her husband. Dave, my husband, couldn’t join us because of work, so it’s just the kids and me. Yesterday the kids and I ventured in to the city on a dry, gray day. I love Portland…I’m a Seattle native, but Portland always feels more like home to me. We had lunch at Flying Elephants Delicatessen. They have fantastic food, especially wood-fired pizza. Oh my!

If only I could find a bread display like this in the Tri-Cities!

Enjoying that wood-fired pizza.

After lunch, we headed over to Posh Boutique in the Pearl District. So much eye-candy.

They have the cutest stuff…like cowboy hats!

After the boutique, we headed over to Green Frog Toys. Portland has quite a few fantastic toy stores, but I think this one might be my favorite. We couldn’t stay long because my paid parking was about to run out, but I did manage to snap a few shots of Claire playing.

After a trip to Whole Foods, the kids were tuckered and we headed back to my sister’s house.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out in my sister’s yard (they live on acreage…vineyard included!). Time to chase chickens!

Away

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

I’m away in Portland on a family vacation, so I will be a bit slower than usual in answering e-mails. Also, my site is undergoing an upgrade, so in the meantime you’ll be redirected here to my blog. I’m hoping to launch this site in the next week or so. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me via e-mail or by calling my studio phone at (509) 845-6235.

Engaged: Carrie and Carl

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

Carrie and Carl’s shoot was scheduled on what turned out to be an incredibly stormy Friday afternoon. We drove east of the Tri-Cities towards Walla Walla to find some fun spots to shoot. It was pretty touch and go, but luckily for us the weather cleared up long enough for us to get a good shoot in. Carrie and Carl clearly adored each other and were so much fun! I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding in June.

Here area few of my favorite images from the session.

Totally unrelated to photography

So I got new hair. You may have noticed on my web site that I have, er had, really short hair. I love that pixie cut, but getting to the salon every three weeks to maintain it was a bit much with my busy schedule, so I’ve been growing it out. I’ve gotten a few inches of growth and decided to go in to my stylist to have it shaped…I ended up going for something totally different…a bob with bangs! If only it were straight–then I’d really feel a bit Lousie Brooks-ish. Anyhow, here’s a rather serious-looking Ali posing for a self-portrait at arms-length.

Anyhow, back to business. I had a smokin’ engagement session on Friday that I’m going to blog about, but I’m trying to hold out for my new blog. My designer and I are just finishing up a few things and hopefully it’ll be up and running this week. It’s got a very clean, streamlined look and I’m really excited for it to get up and running!
